VIVA Cruises presents cultural trips for 2023
Away from the mainstream: crime thriller cruises with author readings, the Netherlands and Belgium for connoisseurs and city hopping in northern Germany are on the program for 2023 with the "culture ship" SWISS RUBY.
With a length of 85 meters and 44 outside cabins, the SWISS RUBY is the smallest ship in the VIVA Cruises fleet. Its small size means it can use waterways that larger ships cannot. In 2023, VIVA Cruises will send the SWISS RUBY as a "culture ship" on rivers such as the Neckar, Saar, Elbe, Weser, Havel, Meuse and Ems on voyages with a cultural program.
From February to March 2023, the SWISS RUBY from VIVA Cruises will embark on eight-day crime cruises. The routes run from Düsseldorf to Berlin or from Berlin back to Düsseldorf with stops in Duisburg, Münster, Brandenburg and Potsdam. In cooperation with Gmeiner Verlag, a publishing house specializing in German crime fiction, VIVA Cruises offers crime fans exciting live readings on board by successful German crime fiction authors. The well-known profiler and Spiegel bestselling author Axel Petermann and detective inspector Dr. Manfred Lukaschewski will be among those taking part. Both will provide insights into their work and talk about their personal, exciting experiences. Along the way, guests can also visit the original locations of the crime stories. The eight-day trip can be booked from 1,150 euros per person.
The twelve-day trip "Big City Moments, Hanseatic League and Sea" from Amsterdam to Berlin is all about the Hanseatic League. The special feature: The journey on the small, charming ship from VIVA Cruises takes guests through the heart of Amsterdam, past rocking houseboats and historic houses that characterize the cityscape. From the coast, the journey continues across the Ijsselmeer to Friesland, through the Ems and Elbe-Havel canals. In the Hanseatic city of Minden, travelers visit the coffee museum and learn all about modern shipbuilding at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. The trip is rounded off with a lecture by a seafaring expert on board, who tells guests everything they need to know about the Hanseatic League. This trip can be booked from 2,695 euros per person.
Germany's north is on the program of cultural trips with SWISS RUBY in late summer 2023. Guests can choose from a total of six different routes. Highlights of the trips include stops in modern cosmopolitan cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf, culture on the Ruhr and fascinating buildings such as the Scharnebeck ship lift, as well as the unique nature of the Havelland region and the Wadden Sea on the North Sea. The Hamburg singer Ben O. Bömkes with his accordion and the captain Stefan Schmidt, who tells the guests about his travels on the world's oceans and his time on the rescue ship "Cap Anamur", are also on board on selected trips. The seven-night river cruises on the SWISS RUBY can be booked from 1,795 euros per person, and the cultural program is rounded off with the autumn wine festival on the river. Rhine, Neckar, Moselle and Saar: on four different voyages between Düsseldorf and Saarbrücken as well as Saarbrücken and Stuttgart, the SWISS RUBY heads for Germany's most beautiful wine-growing regions. Herbal expert Sonja Heinz takes guests into the world of herbs and the everyday life of a modern miller, while Koblenz winemaker Christoph Müller introduces guests to sustainable and ecologically oriented viticulture. The wine tours can be booked from 1,695 euros per person.
All cultural trips in 2023 with SWISS RUBY can be found here and in the new brochure. A tip: The consecutive voyages can be combined with each other - travelers can enjoy a multifaceted route and benefit from a five percent combination discount.
