Subject: Netherlands again risk area

Dear VIVA Cruises passenger,

after the Corona numbers in the Netherlands have risen sharply in recent days and increased infection numbers continue to be recorded, the federal government has again classified the country as a Corona risk area from 18.07.2021.

Nothing will change for VIVA Cruises guests in terms of entry requirements to the Netherlands. Only before returning to Germany you have to register with the authorities under Digital Entry Registration.

For persons who are neither vaccinated nor considered recovered, a rapid antigen test must be performed within 48 hours after return.

We will not take any risk for our guests, safety is the top priority for our crew and guests. Therefore, we continue to monitor the current numbers on an ongoing basis.

If there is a change for your travel date, we will automatically approach you and inform you in time.

Subject: Evidence required for check-in (vaccinated, convalescent, tested).

Dear VIVA Cruises passenger,

we are very pleased to announce that according to the current status and in compliance with all official and local requirements we will start the 2021 season with VIVA TIARA on June 08, 2021. We will check the status of the other planned trips in June and inform you here on this website (see below). All guests will also be contacted personally regarding the applicable regulations for their trip.

To ensure a safe, relaxed and carefree trip, we have added the factors "Vaccinated, Convalescent, Tested" to our hygiene concept:

Domestic German travel on the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers:

All travelers 6 years of age and older require a negative antigen test result at check-in. This must not be older than 24 or 48 hours at the time of travel and depending on the state of departure, and proof of the negative test must be carried to check-in. If you have already been fully vaccinated (second vaccination must have taken place 14 days ago) or have contracted the virus within the last 28 days and a maximum of 6 months and have fully recovered, you do not need a test for check-in on board. Please present an official proof together with your official identification document.

International travel on the Rhine, Douro, Danube, Seine and Rhône:

All travelers require a negative antigen or PCR test result at check-in if they are not fully vaccinated or recovered. A test result must not be older than 48 hours at the time of travel and proof of the negative test must be carried to check-in.

Due to the current regulation, it may be necessary for the antigen test to be renewed regularly on board, depending on the federal state. The crew on board will be happy to assist you here.

Subject: Start of season for the VIVA Cruises fleet

Dear VIVA Cruises passenger,

we are confident that the situation will continue to develop positively in the coming weeks and that we can now start the season ship by ship with the beginning relaxation in tourism. At the moment, quarantine regulations and restrictions unfortunately still make it almost impossible to travel to our European neighbors. However, within Germany, in the first federal states, accommodation and thus river cruises can once again take place in compliance with the applicable regulations and the development of a hygiene concept. In order to make the overview as easy as possible for you, we list below the seasonal launches of our fleet that are under review, planned or confirmed. We will continue to inform all booked guests by phone, e-mail or through the travel agency should a trip not be able to take place. Once your trip is confirmed, you will of course receive all important information from us with your travel documents.

VIVA TIARA - season started 08.06.2021, rerouting of dates 08.06., 15.06., 22.06.

VIVA INSPIRE - season started 14.06.2021, rerouting of date 22.06., due to a defect on board of the VIVA INSPIRE all voyages on 18.06. will be carried out with the completely identical sister ship MS GRACE until further notice

VIVA TREASURES - season started 09.06.2021

VIVA MOMENTS -Cancellation of all voyages up to and including departure date 26.07.2021, season start 02.08.2021 confirmed

ANDORINHA - season started 22.05.2021, departures 03.07. and 10.07. cancelled, restart planned for 17.07.2021

LORD BYRON - cancellation of all voyages up to and including departure date 03.07.2021, season start 21.08.2021 planned

JANE AUSTEN - Cancellation of all voyages up to and including departure date 29.06.2021, season start 14.09.2021 confirmed

SWISS DIAMOND - Cancellation of all voyages up to and including departure date 07.06.2021, season start 14.07.2021 confirmed

Status "under review": We are in contact with local authorities to check the feasibility of the trip. A result is still pending.

Status "planned": The trip can take place according to current aspects in compliance with the specified regulations (including hygiene concept).

Status "confirmed": The trip will take place and we will send the travel documents to our guests after receiving the full payment.

In case of a trip cancellation we would like to convince you as our guests all the more at a later date on board of our ships of our personal service, best comfort and our unique VIVA All-Inclusive and therefore we have arranged attractive rebooking offers with additional benefits for you.

  • If you would like to travel this year or next year, we offer you the possibility of a free rebooking on a substitute voyage from our program here 2021/22 with the same travel duration at the identical travel price as previously booked (subject to availability, guaranteed without additional payment).   • We will also be happy to issue you a voucher in the amount of the payment made for your next booking up to 31.12.2022 and reward this with a free upgrade to a higher cabin category when redeemed.

The travel agency of your choice or the VIVA team will be happy to advise you individually in order to find the best solution for you.

If you do not wish to take advantage of any of our value-added offers, we will of course refund any payments you have already made. (Processing time approx. 14 working days, please inform us of your IBAN number for repayment).

Unfortunately, we are not yet able to make any statements regarding possible departures of the above-mentioned ships, but we are currently examining all possibilities of implementation at full speed. We therefore ask you to refrain from inquiring about your booked trip by phone, chat or email in order to relieve our team. All cancellations and changes will be communicated immediately to all affected customers and made available on this page.

in order for you to be able to plan your vacation with us without any worries during the ongoing pandemic, we offer the following deviating payment and rebooking conditions for all voyages with travel dates in 2021, which are booked from 01.01.2021 to 30.06.2021:
  • reduced deposit of only 100 EUR per person
  • final payment only due 21 days before start of trip
  • free rebooking up to 21 days before departure

In case of corona-related trip cancellation by VIVA Cruises you still have the following options:

  • 100% refund of your payment
  • Rebooking offer with added value - travel at the same price for the same duration of travel at a later date
  • Issue a voucher for the payment made with a free upgrade when redeemed
These conditions apply to all voyages from our river or ocean program and independently via all booking channels.

You can rest assured that your safety is always our top priority and that we will prepare everything accordingly so that you feel completely at ease with us on board at all times. In recent weeks, we have therefore already developed a comprehensive hygiene concept and defined the necessary measures to ensure carefree travel for you.

We are therefore already pointing out the individual procedures to you, and a comprehensive briefing will also take place after embarkation on board:
  • Screening of guests prior to the start of the voyage through a comprehensive WHO health questionnaire, mandatory fever taking (daily) and negative antigen test result (not older than 48 hours) for all guests who are not fully vaccinated or recovered according to official classification. 
  • Increased disinfection of public areas on a fixed schedule and increase in hand sanitizers.
  • Optimized restaurant concept with increased table spacing and sit-down service (no buffets).
  • Meals and activities arranged in time slots as needed to reduce occupancy of common areas
  • Reduced number of guests on shore excursions with wireless info system
  • Maintaining a social distance of 1.5 meters or adhering to local guidelines regarding social distancing is guaranteed and clearly communicated on board. By reducing the number of passengers, this can be implemented without restriction
  • Wearing a mouth guard is mandatory when walking around on board
  • All cabins will be equipped with a bottle of hand sanitizer
  • Payments should be made contactless (EC card, credit card)
